Hi, I’m Wayne A. English. I write fiction and nonfiction and help writers navigate the challenges of Social Media Marketing (SMM) with their published books. On this blog, you’ll find advice on writing, overcoming creative blocks, and building a life around doing what you love to do.
And a knowledge of Social Media Marketing (SMM) is critical to your success, and that is critical to your happiness. So, let’s get start with what it can do for you and what it can’t do for you. It can increase your platform, it can increase your reputation, it can get you known by your readers for what you publish and why they should care enough to follow you online and buy your books and consume your SMM.
What SMM is not good at is selling. Are you surprised to hear that? It’s super for getting you known and increasing your platform. Think about it. The operative word in SMM is Social. Ever been at a party and watched someone sell, sell, sell the entire time? Not pleasant is it? It’s the same with SMM. People do not want to be bombarded with sales hype when they are socializing. but, they are open to content that is helpful, pertinent, expert, and target to their needs. And that’s what SMM is all about.
So don’t do that. S-Commerce, Social Commerce, you include a link within the content that people are reading because they are interested in it. As they have already shown interest, that’s the place to plug your product.
