Recent events show that economic threats and tariffs are more effective to motivate combatants to stop fighting than military threats. Consider India and Pakistan, Cambodia and Thailand.
Now consider using naval resources to project power. Specifically, a naval battle group composed of an aircraft carrier, surface ships, and a submarine.
That battle group is obsolete because hypersonic, nuclear tipped, missiles can destroy the entire battle group, possibly including the submarine, in minutes. So what is the future of war to be? Will we use intelligent weapons to fight other intelligent weapons?
Does that make sense? To spend trillions of dollars on machines to destroy other machines? The economic consequences will ruin our economy and our children and grand children’s future.
Is it not cheaper and more effective to punish enemies economically? We think it is.
